A verse (or two) summarizing the mood

*** This has been edited upon advice of counsel See additional verses added below.

Twas the night before New Year's

when all through the Smith Family Bowl Pick'em household
All the Pick'em creatures were stirring
(Except yours truly who always went to bed early.)

The children were playing their games on the table
The other adults disappeared outside to see fireworks as they were able.
The Pick'ems standings board stood as it had and
most of the Smith Family Bowl Pick'em pickers became quite sad.

You see there were two Pick'em pickers who stood at the top.
Their winning came in droves and didn't stop.
Others like the Rubber Man fell to the lonely wayside.
Liddy Bug and Lizabug got sqished as they tried to hide.

Even the cute, quiet, tiny Lady Bug fell from her perch;
She couldn't keep flying high with a Repeat!er and a Smurf.
So down they all fell until we were left with two.
Repeat! and Smurf were as bad as You-Know-Who!

*** Stanza added on advice of SFP counsel ***

Even the Litigator with his legal pads in hand
Couldn't compute a winning formula in all the land.
He went to Miami with Rubber Man in tow ...
and thought HE would be able to make the Smith Family Bowl Pick'em Pickers Big Show.
*** / Stanza added  ***

"Repeat! fatigue" they all cried with great sound.
"We want new champions!" and stomped their feet on the ground.
"On Macrame'Queen, on Punk, on CaratheTerror
Repeat! can't repeat AGAIN ... there must be some ERROR!"

An examination of the Smith Family Bowl Pick'em pickers, trackers,
and computers showed there was no error, no mistake no blooper.
Repeat! would most likely do just that
A trifecta of hideously amazing Pick'em picking
and everyone else would  kersplatt in a Bowl Movement pooper.

But, wait! There was ONE hope in that of a giant blue Smurf
HE could bring Repeat! back down to earth!
He said little except "Well, I"ll try."
And the last few games on New Years' Day they watched with great mirth.

And that's when they shouted, "We MUST have a new champion in 2018"
The lowly Pick'em pickers' schemes were, in fact, quite byzantine.
The Pick'em pickers again began to rally and cry…
"WE'RE TIRED OF REPEAT! BEING UP SO HIGH!"

And so this story ends with the final results unknown.
There are still games to be played and schemers' seeds to be sown.
One day Liddy BugBowl Movement, and OreoCookie the mantle shall own.
But only if Some Picks can change the past
and place a NEW champion on the Throne!
