Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the Smith Family Pickems
No one had picked their picks yet
So no one had even lost it.

Neither had anyone won yet
or tied yet, or quit yet.
In fact, neither Britton nor Jill had even
won another Bama-like-numbers Smith Family Pick’em championship yet.

So, the picks still had to be picked this winter’s fall
and the winners were still to be determined.
One thing for sure was that Brett wouldn’t
be seen at the top of them all.

How many bowl games would actually be played?
That depended on which players actually showed up
and whether Covid could be stayed.

Twenty-eight games were what they would start with.
Twenty-eight opportunities to get a pesky point in.
Not knowing if Covid, or “The League” prep would interfere,
Makes this year’s pickem a pickem with a modicum of fear.

The pickers will pick their best.
For teams like Bama, Cincy, Michigan, and UGA,
The games this year are the side show to the games that matter
It’s a must that you pick all the pick’em games, however.

Good luck, Merry Christmas, Bah Humbug, too
Get your picks in soon, soon, soon!
